How do you audition?

All students, Australian and International, will be required to audition live – with the exception of certain International students who may supply a recorded audition at the discretion of the Principal.

Applicants will be informed of their audition date upon receipt of their application form.

Where will students attend regular school?

Students who are still undertaking an academic program have a choice of school they attend or may study via correspondence.

The highly respected Camberwell High School is the predominant academic provider for students attending the Academy (RCA).

Camberwell High School students enjoy considerable success in international and national academic competitions.

Co-curricular opportunities include public speaking, active participation in their excellent music program via the school’s orchestra, bands and ensembles, in dramatic and musical productions, intra and inter-school sport excursions, tours, camps and overseas trips.

Excellent opportunities exist in the school for students at all levels to be leaders and success of all kinds is celebrated.

A wide range of subject choices are available to students attending Camberwell High School and these choices will be discussed upon successful acceptance to both the Russian Choreographic Academy (RCA) and Camberwell High School.

What are the facilities at the Academy (RCA)?
The Academy (RCA) contributes to an optimum level of professionalism and comfort for faculty and students.
There are 4 fully professional studios with sprung wooden floors, Tarkett, full length mirrors, barres, together with heating and cooling and numerous dressing-rooms.

In addition to the professional and spacious dance studios, the RCA provides its students with facilities to ensure their artistic success.
With its fully equipped Recreation and Study Room a stimulating educational environment is provided.

Located centrally and close to both train and tram, the RCA is easily accessible by both private and public transport.
What about accomodation?

All students who require accommodation assistance are given various options when it comes to their living arrangements.

Students below 15 years of age:
These students are required to live with a blood relative, legal guardian, or approved RCA family, and preferably within the local parameters of Camberwell High School.

Students 15 years of age and above:
These students may be placed into a home-stay arrangement and have available to them a range of options that will be coordinated by Camberwell High School (in the case of students also pursuing their academic studies) or directly through the Academy (ABA).

One of the participating partners is Homestay Direct who have a ten year history of caring for students and helping them to adapt to their new surroundings.

At all times, the student’s needs and requirements are paramount and we pride ourselves on ensuring that everything possible is done to match student situations with their host family.

The Russian Choreographic Academy is an approved VCE VET Dance Certificate 2 in Dance CUA20111,  Provider.

VCE VET Dance is a certificate 2 in Dance. It is a pre-vocational course and will
prepare you to audition for further (tertiary) training in dance as a teacher, performer or choreographer.  The course gives you a taste of what the industry is like so that you can work out if you want to pursue dance as a career.

If you enrol in this course you will learn:

  • Technique & performance skills in 2 or more dance styles (you can specify your dance styles).
  • All about the Dance industry
  • How to prepare for dance performances
  • Industry special OHS and safe dance
  • Communication skills

Contribution to ATAR Score
2 solos (one in each dance style) contribute 50% to your ATAR score and school assessed coursework contributes the other 50%.
